SEE Change Magazine's video series, dedicated to social entrepreneurs in Canada and beyond. This inaugural installment features one of Canada's most celebrated social entrepreneurs, Geoff Cape, co-founder and executive director of Evergreen. Launched in 1991, the Toronto-based organization is dedicated to deepening the connection between people and nature, making cities more liveable in the process.

Taking its mission one step further, in 2010 Evergreen opened the doors of its newest initiative, Brick Works, Canada's first large-scale environmental community centre. Promoting hands-on engagement, visitors are encouraged to learn and share ideas about best practices related to sustainability. Based in a uniquely impactful location, Evergreen Brick Works was recently named by National Geographic as one of the world's top 10 geotourism destinations.

Thanks to Cape's ingenuity, leadership and unabated commitment, in 2005 he was inducted as an Ashoka Fellow and in 2007 he won the Schwab Foundation's prestigious "Canadian Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award." SEE Change recently sat down with Geoff Cape to talk about his newest social entrepreneurial project and an ever-growing passion for sustainable cities. In this video interview - a collaborative initiative between Evergreen and SEE Change Magazine - Cape discusses the invaluable roles of location, innovation and partnerships in moving projects from inception to reality, candidly dismissing critics who may question some of his corporate collaborations.
